Dr Mohammed Taufiq described iDEA’26 not as a conventional competition, but as a structured pathway for TVET students to develop market-ready products with potential across local, ASEAN, and international markets.
“Their products should go beyond winning competitions and be brought to market. We will assess how they can be further developed and improved before being marketed nationwide,” he said.
The ministry also announced that 12 memoranda of understanding had been signed between skills training institutions under ILKBS and industry partners, aimed at expanding employment pathways for Malaysian youth through the national TVET agenda.
“That is the aim of iDEA’26 — to develop innovations, create marketable products and nurture new talent, rather than simply win competitions,” the minister said.
