SHAH ALAM, Aug 14 — A 38-year-old man sustained serious injuries to his left hand after being slashed with a machete during a brawl involving multiple individuals near a petrol station in Sri Muda, with Shah Alam police confirming an active investigation is underway.
The incident occurred at approximately 11am on Thursday, August 13, near a petrol station along Jalan Bukit Kemuning, Sri Muda. The victim, whose identity has not been publicly disclosed, is currently receiving treatment at Klang Hospital.
Shah Alam District Police Chief Confirms Three Charges Being Pursued
Shah Alam district police chief Assistant Commissioner Sarudin Samah confirmed that officers received a formal report from the injured man and have since opened investigations into the matter.
ACP Sarudin said police are pursuing the case under three separate provisions:
- Section 148 of the Penal Code — rioting while armed with a deadly weapon
- Section 326 of the Penal Code — voluntarily causing grievous hurt by means of a dangerous weapon or means
- Section 8 of the Arms Act 1960 — unlawful possession of an object resembling a firearm
The range of charges indicates authorities are treating the incident as a serious act of group violence rather than an isolated altercation.
