The incident was recorded on the Kajang-Seremban Expressway at approximately KM1 of the route heading towards Kajang. Authorities received a formal report at 2.57pm on the same day the video circulated.

Kajang district police chief ACP Naazron Abdul Yusof confirmed the investigation in an official statement issued on the night of August 8. He stated that the case is being investigated under Section 336 of the Penal Code, which covers rash or negligent acts that endanger the life or personal safety of others.
The provision carries penalties including imprisonment and fines upon conviction.
ACP Naazron confirmed that police are actively tracking both the driver and the passenger seen in the footage. The 12-second clip showed the passenger visibly protruding from the rear window of the Perodua Alza while the vehicle was in motion on the expressway — behaviour that authorities characterise as posing a direct risk to road safety.

The footage gained significant traction on Threads within hours of being posted, prompting widespread public concern and calls for action. The speed at which the video spread directly contributed to the swift police response, with a formal report lodged the same afternoon the clip went viral.
The 12-second clip was sufficient for investigators to identify the vehicle make — a Perodua Alza — and determine the general location of the incident at KM1 of the Kajang-Seremban Expressway. Police have not publicly disclosed whether the vehicle’s registration plate was visible in the footage.
