Sources close to the production have confirmed that China-Malaysia Film Culture Festival will officially open on 26 June 2026 at GSC Mid Valley Megamall, and the buzz surrounding the organising lineup alone has industry insiders talking. This year, LOMO Pictures is no longer flying solo — the production house has joined forces with Shiguang Xingyu and VYBES, forming a three-way partnership that one insider bluntly described as “a completely different league.”
This isn't the festival's first rodeo. Since its founding in 2024 by Aron Koh, who also chairs the 61st and 62nd Asia Pacific Film Festival organising committees, the event has steadily built a reputation within the regional film circuit. But this year, with two new heavyweight partners on board, the scope and reach of the festival have reportedly expanded well beyond what previous editions achieved. “It's not just the film crowd watching anymore,” one source said. “This is genuinely breaking into the mainstream.”
According to the latest materials, the confirmed screening lineup includes Housekeeping?, Boonie Bears: Guardian Code, Kungfu Junior's, A Writer's Odyssey II, Dead To Rights, Successor, and Indera.
Beyond screenings, this year's programme also includes filmmaker dialogues and hands-on workshops, bringing together directors, producers, and distributors from both China and Malaysia to discuss everything from co-production logistics to market trends. The sessions are deliberately capped at 50 to 100 attendees each, prioritising depth over scale.
As for confirmed guests, Hong Kong director Clifton Ko is set to attend, alongside performers Zhu Mimi and Yuan Teng. Whether more surprise names will be announced closer to the date remains unconfirmed — organisers have only said, “all will be revealed in due time.”
Tickets are priced at a modest Rm 15, a figure that feels almost too low given the production scale behind it. With LOMO Pictures, Shiguang Xingyu, and VYBES all backing this edition, 26 June at GSC Mid Valley is shaping up to be the festival's biggest opening yet.
