(Seremban, August 2) The Negeri Sembilan state election result 2026 delivered a decisive victory for Barisan Nasional and Perikatan Nasional, who together secured 25 of 36 state seats, giving them a two-thirds supermajority and full control of the state government. Pakatan Harapan suffered a punishing defeat, retaining only 11 seats, as two of its most senior figures — DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng and caretaker Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Aminuddin Harun — both lost their seats.
BN-PN Win Combined Majority
In the final Negeri Sembilan state election result 2026, BN won 18 seats. UMNO contested 16 seats and won all 16, while MCA contested seven and won two — N1 Gemencheh, won by Hsiao Khang Chun, and N36 Lobak, won by Khor Kim Swee. PN won seven seats, with PAS taking four and Parti Gerakan Tanah Air taking three, including N34 Gemas and N13 Chembong. The combined total of 25 seats gave BN-PN a two-thirds majority, comfortably above the 19-seat threshold required to govern, and the new state government will be formed with the approval of Negeri Sembilan’s ruler Tuanku Muhriz.

Pakatan Harapan Wins Only 11 Seats
Pakatan Harapan’s performance in the Negeri Sembilan state election result 2026 was the coalition’s worst showing in years. Lim Guan Eng, the DAP secretary-general, lost N1 Gemencheh to MCA’s Hsiao Khang Chun by a margin of 688 votes — 5,726 to 5,038. Aminuddin, the caretaker Menteri Besar, lost N32 Rantau by nearly 3,000 votes to UMNO’s Mohammad Fisa, who polled 9,139 against Aminuddin’s 6,163. Speaking after the result, Lim said he had sensed the outcome when unofficial tallies showed a gap of around 500 votes, and offered an apology to his supporters while pledging to remain in Jempol and continue serving the community.
DPM Zahid Visits Palace to Submit Three MB Candidates
Deputy Prime Minister and BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi visited the Istana Besar in Seremban at around 10pm that evening to meet Tuanku Muhriz. He emerged at 12.45am and told waiting reporters that he had submitted three names from BN for the post of Menteri Besar, with the final decision resting entirely with the ruler and a formal announcement to be made by the palace. Zahid also said he hoped the incoming MB would be given time before requiring his predecessor to vacate the official residence, emphasising that all parties are friends and should observe proper courtesy.

MCA Wins Two Seats
MCA’s success in winning both Gemencheh and Lobak was among the most celebrated outcomes of the Negeri Sembilan state election result 2026 for the party. Hsiao’s win over Lim Guan Eng was the single most high-profile result of the night, while Khor Kim Swee’s narrow 444-vote win in Lobak over DAP’s Veerabhan underlined how competitive the two-cornered fights had been in mixed seats.
